Cuties is a French, coming-of-the-age comedy-drama movie that follows a Muslim girl from Senegal caught up on different sides of the society. Raised with traditional values, she has the internet culture she gets attracted to on the other side while the discussions of hypersexualization among pre-adolescent girls also follow. Amy, the 11-year-old Senegal girl, moves to Paris with her mother. Residing in an apartment in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods, Cuties, a twerking cliché of her neighbor Angelica, fascinates her. Though she partakes that adult-style dance group, she faces troubles as that goes against her family’s traditional customs.
