Vice President Pence and Second Lady Test Negative for coronavirus

The report came hours after the President Trump and the first lady were tested positive for COVID-19

Vice President Mike Pence and Karen Pence tested negative according to spokesperson Devin O’Malley. The Vice president has been tested every morning for COVID-19 for months. The news came hours after President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and White House adviser Hope Hicks confirmed positive for coronavirus.

The Press Secretary Devin O’Malley tweeted, “As has been routine for months, Vice President Pence is tested for COVID-19 every day. This morning, Vice President Pence and the Second Lady tested negative for COVID-19.” O’Malley further wrote, “Vice President remains in good health and wishes the Trumps well in their recovery.”

The Vice President was last seen publicly with President Trump at the Press Conference in the Rose Garden on Monday to tout a new strategy for testing for coronavirus. The Vice President also attended an event at the White House honoring Gold Star families, which Trump and his wife also attended.

President Trump and First Lady Tested Positive

Earlier today, President Trump announced that both he and the first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the virus and will quarantine at the White House.

The President tweeted, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

The president and the first lady are fine and are in quarantine at the White House. The physician of the President, Dr. Sean P. Conley also confirmed Trump and the First Lady’s COVID-19 tests positive.

Diagnosis of the President amounts to the most serious health threat to a sitting US President in decades. The president is one of the many world leaders tested positive for the virus including the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

According to the White House Officials, President Trump and Vice President Pence were in close contact in the Oval Office Tuesday morning. The officials also said that both are regularly tested for the virus along with most officials and staff who are in close contact with the president.

The COVID-19 test of the President and first lady came hours after the senior White House adviser Hope Hicks was tested positive. Hicks, who accompanied the president in traveling showed symptoms Wednesday night and was quarantined on Air Force One. On Thursday, he was tested positive.

Vice President Mike Pence wrote on Twitter, “We join millions across America praying for their full and swift recovery.”
