Well, here’s good news for both ADIDAS fans and environment lovers alike. Launching globally on August 27, a new range of sneakers is coming, made from recycled material. Sportswear giant ADIDAS has collaborated with US streetwear brand NOAH NYC for the new range. The collection will also include socks, hats, shorts, and t-shirts, which will all use recycled fabrics.
The majorly used material will be the Prime Blue yarn, a material comprising of recycled plastic waste. Parley Ocean Plastic will be working with Adidas to produce these products. This comes as a step from Adidas towards correcting the environmental damage and its commitment to end plastic waste by 2024.
Adidas x Noah collaboration is an interesting and exciting one. This collection is dedicated to the memories of Babenzien, founder of NOAH NYC, and his connection with water and ocean. He recalls his time spent at the beach, fishing, or just hanging around near the water. He feels the need to take responsibility as an adult and make up for all the damage that we have been doing to both environment and water bodies.
The New Range of Recycled Sneakers
Oceans inspire this recycled collection. However, the sneakers are not totally made from the recycled fabric and carry Adidas’ signature of three stripes. There are two versions of the sneakers – ‘Adidas SL 20’ and ‘Adidas SL72’, which customers will be able to purchase.
A total of four colors will be launched. One of the shoe models has a bright blue Prime Blue on the upper part of the shoe with white laces. The other ones will come in black Prime Blue on the upper part with white laces. The rest two models have vibrant green and blue uppers with red-orange gum bottoms.
The company says, “Merging Noah’s blend of influences with Adidas sporting heritage; the collection is simultaneously a celebration of performance running technology and archival aesthetics.”
Adidas and its History of Collaborations
Adidas has been collaborating with different brands since ’86. One of the essential collaborations that took place was in 2014 with Kanye West leaving Nike and joining Adidas. Besides, Adidas has some other prominent partnerships. One was Adidas x Parley, for the first-ever sneakers made of reused ocean plastic waste. Moreover, the Adidas x Beyoncé collaboration is one of the most significant partnerships to date. Adidas was also in news doe collaborating with a luxury brand Prada last year. Thus, Adidas’ collaboration game has always been reliable and on point.
